This photo reportage captured the rugged and unruly lives of Icelandic trawler fishermen, during a two week voyage in the Denmark Strait of the North Atlantic. Through the images explored the demanding work of the fishermen in the the ever-changing harsh environment as well as the uniqueness of their livelihoods.
This project was born through my personal interest the fishing industry in Iceland as it is an integral part of the economy and has been apart of their culture for many years, I wanted to explore this long-standing tradition in its modern practice.
My hope is that each photograph aims to capture a story of perseverance and a bond between these individuals and the the ocean as it is not only their livelihood but their cultural identity.
